Geotechnical Site Investigations & FACTUAL REPORTING
Expert Site Investigations
Thorough geotechnical site investigations to assess geological and geotechnical conditions, compliant with the requirements of AS1726-2017.
Factual Reporting
Detailed factual reports presenting an uninterpreted data set for use in future modelling and design. Depending on the site's history, this may include a collation of pre-existing data.
SITE TRAINING
Leveraging off nearly two decades of experience implementing internal and client field training programs, Gen X Geotech offers AS1726-2017 compliant field training sessions in rock core logging for up to 3 early career geologists/engineers, specifically in geotechnical logging. These services include time on site and allowance for a personalised feedback report for each students logging.
engineering geological models (2d&3d) & intERPRETIVE REPORTING
egm's
Gen X Geotech adopt the approach of the IAEG C25 Guidelines for the development and application of
engineering geological models on projects. An EGM is only as good as its constituent parts, theories developed are constantly tested and updated and each facet of the model much speak to the others. The 2D or 3D presentation of an EGM is only a small component, though often the one first requested.
Desk studies
So much data is collected on projects or by nearby projects, that is under utilised. But so is the geologists brain. Gen X Geotech are serious about conceptualising a project using a holistic approach that draws on every scale of available data - tectonic, regional, local, macroscopic, microscopic. The conceptual model is tested and updated at every stage of new information inclusion, but it all starts with a decent desk study.
GIR's
The Geotechnical Interpretive Report builds on an EGM and is a tool to convey the basis of the geological understanding to engineers, typically using the language they speak - numbers. The GIR should similarly be tested and updated/refined as new data is collected. It is a fundamental tool for engineering designers.
Peer review & technical review panels
Gen X Geotech's Technical Director has spent countless hours reviewing the work of others, and being subject to review scrutiny by some of Australia's best reviewers. Leveraging off the deep understanding of being on both sides of a review, Helen brings this experience and due diligence to bring the best outcome for client and project as reviewer, Owners Engineer or Panelist.
rISK ASSESSMENT, gap analyses, CONSTRUCTION PHASE VALIDATION & TECHNICAL ASSURANCE
Gaps occur in the project knowledge for a number of reasons - cost and time constraints limiting investigations, inappropriate investigation methods, not drilling deeply enough.
Understanding where gaps exist and identifying key risks is a necessity.
Geo X Geotech has the Subject Matter Expert with the skills to effectively identify and then communicate the risk, the consequences/likelihood & the criticality on project success to clients using language to suit the room.
At construction, a record is needed to confirm conditions are as expected and therefore the design should be suitable. Construction phase services are vitally important, but a too often forgotten aspect is collation of the collected record to confirm larger scale project integrity.
Sometimes things do go wrong, so a client may need an external expert to provide assurance the available data was used correctly and interpretations were sound. Gen X Geotech has the experience to fascilitate this.
